  • Blinking or closed eye
  • Reddish area in eye or conjunctiva
  • Discharge from eye
  • Staining from corner of eye
  • Any changes seen in and around the eye
Eye conditions

There are many different types and causes of eye conditions such as conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, dry eye, uveitis, glaucoma, cataracts, eye trauma, foreign material lodgement, entropion (eyelid folding inward), and cherry eye just to name a few common conditions.

Diagnosis and Treatment

During consultation an eye examination will help to diagnose the condition. Photos may be taken and tests during the exam may be performed such as corneal staining or tear test, depending on the condition. Other test may be warranted such as blood testing, ocular pressure, and blood pressure.

Treatment may be as simple as placing topical eye medication +/- oral medication or may require more involved therapy such as surgery for more serious conditions. Where comprehensive diagnostics are required or for complicated conditions a referral to a specialist veterinary ophthalmologist may be necessary.
