Types of Dog Vaccinations in Brisbane

C3
C3 contains core vaccines for Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper Virus, and Canine Adenovirus. Essential for all dogs due to the high contagiousness and fatality of these diseases, especially Parvovirus which can persist in the environment for many years. So direct contact with another dog is not necessary to contract the disease.
Kennel Cough
Contains vaccines for B. bronchisepta and Parainfluenza virus. Recommended for dogs in contact with infected dogs or objects, as well as dogs that go out and interact with other dogs. Also, consider vaccination for stay-at-home dogs who may be contaminated through fencing.
C5
Is a combination of C3 vaccination and Kennel Cough vaccines.
Leptospirosis
The Leptospirosis vaccine may be appropriate for dogs that live on farms or visit farm areas regularly. Otherwise, it’s not considered necessary in our area.

Mobile Dog Vaccinations & Annual Health Checks

Every dog should receive a health check at least once a year. Annual health checks are usually done at the time of vaccination. Older dogs are recommended to have a health check twice yearly. Some dogs fear going to the vet clinic and many of our clients found visiting their vet clinic inconvenient, particularly those with more than one pet. We offer mobile dog vaccinations and annual health checks to help alleviate these concerns and ensure your pet is up to date with their vaccinations and health checks. Frequently Asked Questions

In Queensland, the required vaccinations for dogs are determined by the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 and its associated regulations. The following vaccinations are recommended for dogs in Queensland:

● Canine parvovirus – this is a highly contagious viral disease that can cause severe gastrointestinal symptoms and may be fatal in puppies.
● Canine distemper virus – this is a viral disease that affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems of dogs.
● Infectious canine hepatitis (Adenovirus) – this is a viral disease that affects the liver, kidneys, and respiratory system.

All dogs in Queensland should receive a C3 vaccination, which covers these three core diseases. In addition kennel cough (Bordetella bronchiseptica and Parainfluenza virus) vaccination is also recommended particularly for dogs that come into contact with other dogs or where other dogs have recently been. The combination of the kennel cough vaccination and C3 core vaccines is called a C5. An up-to-date C5 vaccination is required prior to boarding dogs in kennels.

Leptospirosis is recommended for dogs that live on or visit farms.

In general, it’s typically safe to walk your dog after they have received a vaccination. For dogs that are out of date or puppies receiving their vaccinations, there is a waiting period before you can safely take your dog out walking. For dogs having their first vaccination or where there may be a concern for them having an adverse reaction, rest and careful monitoring are advised. Therefore, it is important to follow the specific post-vaccination instructions provided by your veterinarian to ensure the best possible protection for your dog.

It’s generally not recommended to allow an unvaccinated dog to go around a vaccinated dog, as this can increase the risk of infectious diseases for both dogs. Even if a vaccinated dog has received protection against certain diseases, it may still be susceptible to others, and can potentially spread diseases to unvaccinated dogs.

Vaccinations are an important tool for preventing the spread of infectious diseases in dogs and can help to protect them from potentially life-threatening illnesses. However, it’s important to remember that vaccines are not 100% effective, and the protection they provide can vary depending on the specific vaccine and the individual dog’s immune system.

If you have an unvaccinated dog, it is best to avoid contact with other dogs until they have received the appropriate vaccinations.
